Strength, endurance and stamina were all on show as the team at Vista competed in Tough Mudder North West, all in aid of a very worthy cause.
Completing the gruelling obstacle course in just an hour and 54 minutes on 10 September, seven staff members, including Managing Director Keith Sadler, successfully raised over £13K for the son of one of the company’s team members afflicted by a rare condition.
In 2021, at the age of 19, Kurtis Haley was diagnosed with gluten ataxia, a rare condition that causes the immune system to attack part of the brain as a response to gluten ingestion.
His gut has been so badly damaged by gluten, anti-bodies have affected the cerebral part of his brain, resulting in symptoms similar to that of a stroke.
Today, Kurtis is unable to walk properly, while his speech and memory have both been badly affected.
All money raised from the Vista team’s participation in Tough Mudder North West has gone towards Kurtis’ private speech therapy and rehabilitation.
“Taking on Tough Mudder North West was a testament to the strength, endurance and commitment of the Vista team. Together we faced the challenges of the obstacle course head on, not just as colleagues, but as a family united for a very worthy cause,” Keith said.
“It was inspiring to see our team come together to support Kurtis and his battle against this rare condition, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to his rehabilitation. At Vista, we believe in standing by our team members in their times of need, and with Tough Mudder, we truly exemplified this.”
