Vista’s head social media co-ordinator Lauren Barnes tells us why we should put our faith in composite doors for security this winter and beyond.
A home is a place we should feel warm, cosy, and safe – a retreat from the stresses and strains of daily life. Without this, it’s just a building with four walls and a roof. The humble front door plays a pivotal role in making your clients feel safe and protected from intruders, come rain, shine, or snow.
One of the benefits of a composite door is its enhanced security features. As a Mother to three young girls, feeling safe and secure in my home is a top priority and with an XtremeDoor composite door I feel just that. With this in mind, here are three reasons to put your faith in our composite doors this winter.
1. High impact resistance
Did you know break-ins and theft insurance claims increase by more than a third between November and February?… A composite door differs from a PVCu panel partly because they are thicker and more robust. An XtremeDoor is a 44mm thick door slab with 4mm thick ‘skin’ front and back and high density thermally efficient ‘foam’ in the centre. This mixture of materials not only gives it its name ‘composite’, i.e composition of materials, but its strength too. The external skin delivers high impact resistance and we’ve even had the Police use our doors in their training facilities in both Manchester and Northern Ireland.
2. Getting hooked
Many composite doors have two or three-point locking systems. However, we like to go one step further! Our XtremeDoor features a 5-point locking system, with pincer-like hooks at the top and bottom and an additional hook in the middle. Our lock is a huge selling point for our customers, providing the best winter defence against intruders.
3. Key to success
To complement the lock, we use the world’s most famous security company Yale for the cylinder. As industry leaders in home security, the familiar Yale symbol is known across the globe. Utilising anti-snap, bump, pick and drill barrels, the barrel sits inside what is called a ‘cylinder guard’ which stops thieves from being able to snap the cylinder with a view to pop it out and turn the handle. All in all, the security package on the XtremeDoor meets all industry regulations. It can also be upgraded with tough laminate glass to achieve the ‘Secure by Design’ accreditation; the Police Preferred Specification that works to improve the security of buildings and homes across the UK, providing a recognised standard for security that works hard to reduce crime.
